GOLF IN FORT MYERS There are over 160 golf courses in the Fort Myers area. We are golf crazy here. Our courses come in all shapes and designs. We have public courses, semi-private courses and very private courses. Most of the big name designers have left their mark in Lee County. You can literally play dozens and dozens of local courses every year. There are also new courses being built all the time. Some years ago, Florida, like the rest of the nation, discovered that golf was so important that entire communities could be designed around a course. Lee County has taken this concept to the extreme. We don't think we have the room on this page to name all of the communities that are built around a golf course and country club. They are everywhere. They are also designed to fit into every budget and every segment of society.
